NutriSystem greatly demonstrates leanwashing in this advertisment through the overuse of endorsement and imagery by means of Janet Jackson's personal tesitmony . The commercial attempts to justify and glorify the diet system through equating it to the celebrity's successful lifestyle without providing any true insight on the program or product information.

This ad is funny to me, because one of the first things out of Janet's mouth is "you need a plan that works for you." This is true. Everyone's body is different and we all need to find what works for us. I can't tell what this system or plan is by watching this commercial, and I can't even tell if it's really something that would vary significantly from person to person or if it's just a one-size-fits-all that Janet is touting works for everyone. What she's describing sounds like a lifestyle. So if someone needs help with defining what lifestyle works best for them, then maybe this product can help. But what I don't like about it is that it sounds like you have to be in a program to be healthy.
